nikki & juan

Nikki and Juan married at the Airtel Plaza Hotel in Van Nuys, CA on August 9, 2008. I was lucky enough to be a second shooter with my friend, Louella, from mental pictures lab. She was kind enough to allow me to b
e her assistant for this couple’s special day.

Still being torn between a Nikon or Canon, I did not own a DSLR when Louella asked me to shoot with her. A very kind friend allowed me to borrow his personal Canon 5D and lenses.

After the beautiful outdoor ceremony, Louella and I tried to herd what seemed like a bridal party of five hundred! They were having so much fun.

Nikki is the youngest of seven. She has six older brothers. This proves Juan is one perfect guy for six of these guys to allow their baby sister to marry him.

I’d never seen such a large, close family before this wedding. They were so loving, always hugging and kissing and saying I love you to each other. Their family pitched together to help with the big day. Nikki’s cousin did her hair and
makeup, her aunt coordinated, her family decorated the beautiful ballroom. Juan put the title cards on the tables himself!

Both loving music, their wedding consisted of music themed tables such as “Aaron Copeland” “Dizzy Gillespie” and “Andrew Lloyd Weber” were just a few of the tables their guests were assigned to.

The reception was beautiful and the entertainment was fantastic. Close friends of the family danced traditional dances for them. Juan’s brother and best man wrote and sang the most
beautiful, heartfelt song for his brother and new sister-in-law. It even brought a tear to my eye.

The maid of honor spent hours slaving over the perfect speech for her cousin, the bride. Unfortunately, she left the speech at home and had to wing it.
