WARNING: this post may contain too much cute for some audiences. :)

Earlier this week, MOD, a mom’s group, had a halloween costume picnic for their little cuties at Lacy Park in San Marino, CA!  I was invited to come take portraits of the kiddos in their costumes.  Each time I thought for sure I’d taken pictures of the cutest kid possible another mom with a cutie would want a photo.  So much fun!!

This weekend I had the opportunity to display and sell some of my personal photography (see my vintage art photography post).  For those of you who came out to visit, thank you, thank you!  I really loved seeing all the familiar faces and really appreciate all your support!.  As many people expressed interest in attending but couldn’t here’s how it went.

The boy and I decided to go check out some art before everything got started.  I, of course, brought the camera.

A little sangria for the walk. Yum :)

Of the few galleries I actually got to see… this was by far my favorite.  Besides being a fan of dragons, this was absolutely amazing!  But even if one isn’t, you can’t help but appreciate the amount of time and intricate details that went into these sculptures.  The light, the fabric, wire, bits of flair, it was so well thought out and executed.  The artist said it was a 5 month process working 80 hours a week and help with sewing the fabrics. I think the results paid off.

I made the boy pose for a few shots.. come on… I’m a photographer. I think it’s required.

I wound up doing fairly well for this being one of my first art/photography showings.  I was actually most pleased with the response from my work.  Everyone seemed to genuinely like my photography and the style in which I presented it. I got lots of questions about my process and met some really great art fans!  Thanks to all who signed up for my mailing list too!

I still have some prints left over (and buttons too), so if you’re interested in purchasing any, I will be getting a store up on my site eventually, but for now just email me at shannon@shannonleeimages.com and I’ll hook ya up.

And what better way to end the day than with a beautiful sunset!  What a view.

Some of you may be wondering why I have been MIA all week and curious about my cryptic facebook and twitter updates.  Here’s a little explanation:

On Monday, after receiving an email from a friend, my life was completely put on hold.  He rents a loft at the Los Angeles Brewery, an artist’s loft community.  Twice a year, over 150 lofts open their doors to the public, for the Brewery Art Walk.  My friend graciously offered me space in his loft to display and perhaps sell some of my personal work.  Thrilled for the opportunity, I wondered what I was going to be able to pull together in such a short time.

After a long run that evening, I decided to blend two of my favorite things: vintage and lomography.  I came up with these:

These are 5×5 prints on linen paper to make them a little thicker and give them some texture.  I will sell them in little packs of 4 that can be strung and hung with little clips, framed and used as general decor or anything else you can think of!

WHCC was so amazing and had these to me within two days without an extra charge.  I opened them today and almost started crying.  They are so perfect and more than I could have ever imagined.

I was also THRILLED to get my rush order of prints on buttons!!  They are so adorable.

jeanette & brandon :: 09.26.09

Jeanette and Brandon are the cutest, sweetest couple.  The amount of love they have for each other was astounding, not to mention their wonderful families surrounding and helping.  This day was truly something special.

Don’t feel like scrolling?  Slideshow is located at http://shannonleeimages.com/jeanette-brandon but isn’t up just yet! Until it is (in the next few days) try not to wear yourself out scrolling!

Jeanette’s dress was absolutely STUNNING!  I couldn’t stop photographing it.

Time to get ready!

Time for the first look!  Brandon was SO excited.  I had to keep telling him not to turn around.  I just love the look on his face here.  He can’t wait to see his beautiful bride.  Can you blame him?

Off to take pictures!

The girls.

The flowers were SO beautiful.  Jeanette and Brandon had a lot of callalily themes throughout there day.  Callalilies are my favorite flower too.. so maybe I’m a bit biased.

The boys.

Jeanette, Brandon and I snuck off to capture photos of just the two of them.

It was SO HOT!  So hot, I was fogging up my viewfinder.  Jeanette and Brandon did such a great job of pretending it wasn’t.  They look so fabulous!

Time to get married!  I caught one of the groomsmen alone his date :)

They had the cutest guests!  I just loved this family of three girls.  They make my photos look good :)

Brandon waiting for his beautiful bride!

I almost missed this photo because when he started singing, his voice was so beautiful I thought it was a recording.  I’ve never heard anything like it.

They did it! Just Married!

Time to party!

Quite possibly the most photogenic guests ever.

Time for the first dance.  So sweet…

I just love how all the girls are watching them.  Reminds me of when I was a little girl at weddings and how mesmerized I was of the bride.

During the dollar dance, instead of money, they played a prank on Brandon and brought him baby clothes! Ha.  Love it.

Then some of the guests played other pranks on Brandon…. his old roommate started break dancing with him!  Brandon nervously laughing, looked at his bride hoping that she didn’t think it was his idea.

This crowd knew how to dance and wasn’t afraid to show it!  They were also one of the most warm-hearted, kind, wonderful group of people I’ve ever been around.

Thanks again SOO much you two!  I can’t wait to see what you think of your photos!

charlotte’s 70th surprise birthday party!

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Going to St Louis always presents the best photo opportunities for me. was lucky enough to happen to be in town when this fantastic birthday party was going on for Charlotte. Her two daughters conspired to throw her a surprise party inviting all her friends and family. Such a fun crowd!

She was COMPLETELY surprised. It was so cute!

This little guy is so good that he makes the idea of having a baby seem simple.

Happy birthday to you!

This little cutie couldn’t WAIT to eat cake!

This is my favorite photo from the entire event. Charlotte’s 3 year old great grandson feeding her birthday cake. I treasure moments like these.

Mmm cake!

She had the best converse I’ve ever seen.

Thanks everyone for an amazing party! To those of you who are interested in seeing the proofs, they are up at http://shannonleeimages.instaproofs.com, a password is required. To get it, contact me or one of the party planners. Enjoy!
