julia + kenneth paul :: destination wedding :: poipu, kauai

I had to literally stop myself from jumping up and down when Julia told me that she and Kenneth Paul (KP) were getting married in Hawaii. KP’s parents (who also got married the same day 63 years ago) live in Kauai, Hawaii so naturally, there couldn’t be a more perfect place to start their lives together. Last year, I was lucky enough to get to spend two different weeks in Maui and couldn’t WAIT for a photo opportunity on one of these beautiful islands.
I was even more excited to find out that this was not going to be just a one day celebration, but a few days of wedding festivities. Sign me up! Wednesday started it off with a morning henna session. In the midst of photographing this delicate art, I realized how unbelievably fortunate I am to have such amazing clients who invite me to partake in their fantastic adventures. It’s in moments like these I feel like the luckiest person on earth.
Getting married in Hawaii is like a dream come true. Palm trees sway in the consistently warm sunny, sea breeze. Soft fluffy clouds dance above the deepest blue ocean. It’s the definition of paradise.

Thursday was a rehearsal dinner with all the wedding guests which consisted of only very close friends and family. It was so intimate and personal, one of my favorite kinds of weddings. Of course KP and Julia looked fantastic in their matching sari’s and Julia’s now dried and beautiful henna. The light was too perfect not to run around the Gardens for a few photos.

Friday morning, bright and early, was the wedding preparations. Many of you know I am NOT a morning person, but sleeping late in Hawaii feels illegal. I never want to miss one minute of the beautiful sunlight here.

Julia and KP decided to have a lovely brunch to conclude an already perfect morning.
